As AI tools proliferate, competitive advantage shifts from having the tools to having the workflows that exploit them. The race isn't for the best model; it's for the best integration.

Your AI initiative will probably disappoint not because the technology fails, but because workflows don't change. The pilot will amaze, the rollout will underwhelm, and everyone will blame the tool.

The fix isn't better tools - it's better workflows. Find your real constraint. Design processes that assume the new capacity. Align metrics with intended outcomes. Make the new way easier than the old way.

Most organizations are sitting on 30-40% latent capacity from tools they've already deployed. They don't need more tools. They need workflows that channel the capacity they've created.

The next time someone shows you an amazing demo, ask: "What workflow changes does this assume?" If the answer is "none," you're looking at expensive slack, not transformation.
